The Statistical Service announces that the number of building permits authorized by the municipal authorities and the district administration offices during November 2009 stood at 771. The total value of these permits reached €216,5 million and the total area 263,8 thousand square metres. These building permits provide for the construction of 1.285 dwelling units.
During the period January –November 2009, 8.159 building permits were issued, registering an increase of 0,5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The total value of these permits decreased by 2,2% and the total area by 14,5%. Τhe number of dwelling units recorded a decrease of 17,8%.
Building permits constitute a leading indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
