Qstn. 1: What΄s new on CYSTAT΄s upgraded website?
The most important innovations introduced are:
- Creation of Subthemes under each Statistical Theme
- New search facility for publications
- Formation of separate archives for Key Figures, Press Releases and News, Publications
- Upgrading of the Alert service and expansion to Publications
- Addition of methodological notes (Metadata)
Qstn. 2: Is there any charge for using the statistical data produced by CYSTAT?
All statistical data presented on CYSTAT΄s website is offered to users free of charge. There is charge only for printed publications and tailor-made requests.
Qstn. 3: Is there any charge for using the services "Alert" and "On-line order"?
No. The services are available free of charge to all registered users.

You must fill in the predefined form located in the section Services->

Qstn. 6: What should I do if I forget my password?
Follow the link in the

service and then follow the instructions at the tab "Forgot your Password;"
Qstn. 7: Is it possible to receive CYSTAT΄s latest website updates by e-mail?
This service is available. You can register to the "
Alert
" service and receive via e-mail all new website entries, including latest figures, announcements and new publications.
Qstn. 8: What is the difference between Press Releases and News?
Press Releases are announcements which are sent to the Press and Information Office. News are announcements which are only published on CYSTAT΄s website.
Qstn. 9: Which period does the Release Calendar cover?
The
release calendar
is updated every Friday and presents the dates of the Press Releases and announcements of the Statistical Service which are scheduled to be released in the current month.
Qstn. 10: Where can I find older Press Releases and News and/or historical data?
You can find older Press Releases and News in the "
Press Releases
" archive.
Historical data in the "
Key Figures
" archive.
Qstn. 11: Is it possible for someone to use / republish the information provided on the web?
Yes, provided that the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus is stated as the source of the information.
Qstn. 12: What does CYSTAT publish?
The survey results and all statistical data compiled by CYSTAT are published in paper and/or electronic publications available to the public. More than 50 reports (annual, quarterly, monthly) are issued every year. The electronic publications are available free of charge on CYSTAT΄s website. The printed publications are available for sale through the website ( Services -> On-line order ) or at CYSTAT Offices.

In order to open pdf files you need Acrobat reader. You can download it in section
Publications
.
Qstn. 14: Why can΄t I download electronic publications?
The problem may be due to the large size of the file combined with the speed for download provided by your Internet connection. Try to save the file first and then open it. By pressing right click, select "save target as" and save the file on your computer.
Qstn. 15: How can I pay for the printed publication I ordered?
Payment of orders can only be made by cash or by cheque to the name "Director Statistical Service, Nicosia, Cyprus". For the time being on-line payment with a credit card is not possible.
Qstn. 16: Which publications are included in the search engine in section Publications?
The
Publications
webpage includes the most recent publications of each theme.
Qstn. 17: Where can I find previous publications?
For previous electronic publications you must visit the
Publications Archive
. For information regarding printed publications download the
"Publications Catalogue" issued in 2004 or contact the Statistical Service (

Qstn. 18: Is there any difference in the content between a printed and an electronic publication?
No. The content of a printed and an electronic publication is identical.
Qstn. 19: Are all CYSTAT publications available in both printed and electronic form?
It is CYSTAT΄s aim that all new publications are made available in both printed and electronic form.

located on the left side of the heading of some tables in the Key Figures section?
Τhe icon indicates the existence of related tables in the Archive.
Qstn. 21: What is indicated by the icon
located on the left side of the heading of some tables in the Key Figures section?
Τhe icon indicates the existence of related methodological information.
Qstn. 22: What is indicated by the dates in the Key Figures section?
The dates indicate the most recent update of each table.
Qstn. 23: Are there any methodological information available in CYSTAT΄s website?
Methodological information are available in the Key Figures sections where the icon
appears.
Qstn. 24: What is the difference between CPI (Consumer Price Index) and HCPI (Harmonised Consumer Price Index)?
The main differences between the National CPI and the HICP are the following:
1. The imputed rents as well as road tax of motor cars are not included in the HICP.
2. Different population coverage given that the HICP covers all consumption expenditures which take place in the economic territory of Cyprus, while the National CPI covers the consumption expenditures, which take place on the economic territory of Cyprus, of the private households only.
3. Different weights of the items due to the use of different data sources and because of the different updating periods between the two indices (HICP annually and CPI every five years).
Qstn. 25: Why is there no excel file for Money and Banking and Balance of Payments?
There is no excel file because no table is compiled by CYSTAT. The titles ¨Money and Banking¨ and ¨Balance of ayments¨ are links to the website of the Central Bank where this data is available.
