The Minister of Foreign Affairs will make an official visit to Bulgaria

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, is departing this afternoon for an official visit to Sofia. In the framework of this visit, Mr Christodoulides will have a tête-à-tête meeting tomorrow, 24 January, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Ms Ekaterina Zakharieva, and enlarged deliberations are going to follow in the presence of official delegations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. Later on, the two Ministers will make statements to the press.

The discussion is going to focus -among others- upon the bilateral relations and the prespective of further fostering of those relations in various areas, issues from the current agenda of the European Union including issues related to energy and energy security, Turkey's escalating illegal actions in the maritime zones of the Republic of Cyprus and the situation in East Medierranean, the recent developments in the Cyprus Problem and other regional and international issues of shared interest between the two counries.

During his stay in Sofia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs is going to be received by the President of Bulgaria Mr Rumen Radev, the Pirme Minister Mr Boyko Borisov and the President of the Parliament of Bulgaria Ms Tsveta Karayancheva.
