Agriculture Minister travels to Brussels - Environment Council and strengthening relations with the European Parliament in the program of his visit

The steps needed to reach the European Union's climate neutrality objective by 2050, as foreseen by the European Green Deal, will be examined by the EU Environment Council in Brussels on 5 March. Cyprus will be represented at the Council by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Costas Kadis.

The European Commission is expected to present to the Council its proposal for a Just Transition Mechanism under the European Green Agreement. European Ministers will also exchange views on the fitness check of EU water legislation and adopt conclusions on air quality.

During his stay in Brussels, Mr. Kadis will have a meeting with the President of the European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Norbert Lins. During the meeting they will mainly discuss the EU regulations of the new Common Agricultural Policy and will have an exchange of views on the European Green Deal and the initiative “from Farm to fork”.

Mr. Kadis will also have the opportunity to meet with the Cypriot MEPs, and brief them on the latest developments in the areas of his responsibility as well as the objectives of his Ministry at European level.
