Intra and Extra EU Trade Statistics January – June 2020

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra and Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January – June 2020. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the six-digit commodity code level and by partner country.

The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:

(a) Total importsof goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January – June 2020 amounted to €3.664,7 mn as compared to €4.120,6 mn in January – June 2019, recording a decrease of 11,1%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January – June 2020 were €1.544,2 mn compared to €1.711,0 mn in the same period of 2019, registering a decrease of 9,7%. Thetrade deficitwas €2.120,5 mn in January – June 2020 compared to €2.409,6 mn in the corresponding period of 2019.

(b) The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €2.112,2 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €420,7 mn in January – June 2020. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €1.131,8 mn.

(c) Exports to the European Union accounted for €474,1 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €154,3 mn in January – June 2020. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €915,8.
