The Commissioner for Volunteerism and Non-Governmental Organizations, Mr Yiannis Yiannaki, on Friday, February 26, 2021, participated in the International Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Council of Europe, which took place in the framework of the International Day of Non-Governmental Organizations.

The important role of NGOs and their contribution to tackling various problems was discussed at the conference. The role of NGOs in times of conflict and their contribution to the period of reconstruction were particularly analysed at the conference.

The Republic of Cyprus, through the Office of the Commissioner for Volunteering and NGOs, creates a favourable environment for strengthening the role of NGOs, recognizing their important input in empower social cohesion, strengthening the active participation and the Civil Society.
