Foreign Affairs Minister visits Amman for deliberations with his Jordanian counterpart
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, travels tomorrow, 15 May 2021, to Amman, where he is due to hold deliberations in the afternoon with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Ayman Al Safadi.
The two Ministers will initially hold a tête-à-tête meeting and will then attend consultations in extended format with the participation of official delegations. Talks are expected to focus on the latest developments with the escalation of violence in the region, with particular emphasis on the steps that need to be taken and on the support of efforts aimed at an immediate de-escalation of the situation.
In the course of deliberations, the progress made in the bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and Jordan will be reviewed and the next steps examined in the direction of their further enhancement, while views will also be exchanged, inter alia, on the latest developments in relation to the Cyprus probem, on EU-Jordan relations, as well as on issues pertaining to regional cooperation.
After the end of their deliberations, Ministers Christodoulides and Safadi will deliver statements to the press (at 16.30).
