Administration of the booster/3rd dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 for individuals aged 18 and over

Following a decision of the Council of Ministers on 15 November to shield the adult population through the administration of the booster/3rd dose, the Ministry of Health informs that as of Wednesday, 8 December 2021, vaccination with the booster/3rd dose starts for individuals aged 18 years and over, provided that a period of six months has elapsed since the completion of the vaccination scheme (administration of the 2nd dose in the case of Pfiser/BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines or the single-dose of the Johnson&Johnson vaccine).

For better service, as of 8 December, beneficiaries will be able to arrange an appointment through the Vaccination Portal or be served through the walk-in vaccination centres, without prior appointment arrangement.

The walk-in centres operate in all districts, from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For people who have received the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine, the service is available only through the walk-in vaccination centres.

Citizens who are not registered in the GΗS can get vaccinated every Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At the same time, vaccinations of citizens with 1st and 2nd doses continue.

It is reminded that people who received the Pfiser/BioNTech and Moderna vaccine during their initial vaccination will also receive the same vaccine for the booster dose. People who were initially vaccinated with AstraZeneca will be able to choose an mRNA vaccine (Pfiser/BioNTech or Moderna). Finally, people who received Johnson&Johnson’s single-dose vaccine could be vaccinated with either an mRNA vaccine or the Johnson&Johnson vaccine.

All individuals must present proof of identification (identity, passport, Alien Registration Card, etc.) as well as their vaccination card if they will receive the 2nd or 3rd dose.
