Announcement of the Ministry of Health on the reduction of close contacts’ self-isolation period as of Monday, 24 January 2022

Regarding the decision of the Council of Ministers on the reduction of the self-isolation period from 14 to 10 days for individuals who are close contacts of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases and must self-isolate based on the relevant protocol, the Ministry of Health clarifies that:

The decision will be in effect as of 24 January 2022 and individuals who are already in self-isolation as close contacts can be released after the 10th day has elapsed. Release earlier than 10 days is allowed with a negative PCR laboratory test result on the 7th day after contact or later, the cost of which will be borne by the affected individual.

It is recalled that, based on the protocol for close contacts of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, the following categories must self-isolate:

  • Individuals with no vaccination history.
  • Individuals who have completed their vaccination scheme and a period of 7 months has elapsed.
  • Individuals who have not completed their vaccination scheme (two-dose vaccines).
  • Individuals holding a Certificate of Recovery and a period of 90 days has elapsed.
