Clarifications by the Ministry of Health on the decisions of the Council of Ministers which enter into force as of 1 June 2022

Further to the decisions of the Council of Ministers dated 27 May 2022, concerning the lifting of remaining measures against COVID-19, the Ministry of Health informs that the following enter into force as of 1 June 2022:

a)    the suspension of the mandatory use of a protective mask indoors and in closed spaces

  • Excluding employees and visitors over 12 years of age in hospitals, nursing homes, closed structures of vulnerable groups, outpatient clinics, medical centres, rehabilitation centres and means of public transport.
  • The use of masks is recommended, in places where large numbers of people congregate, for people who belong to vulnerable groups of the population and for people who interact with high-risk people.

b)    visits to patients in public and private hospitals are allowed with a maximum of 2 persons per day, upon presentation of a 48-hour Rapid test or PCR for people over 6 years of age (1 person per visit).

  • It is understood that in extremely urgent cases the number of people and visits may be increased, upon approval by the management of the hospital.

c)    the abolition of the Action Plan for the smooth operation of flights and the operation of Airports and Ports

  • All travelers arriving in the Republic of Cyprus, irrespective of their country of origin, will not be required to present a valid certificate of vaccination or recovery or a negative result from a PCR or antigen rapid test.
