Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products: June 2022

Annual change in sales +14,5%

In June 2022, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 126.041 tonnes, recording a rise of 14,5% compared to June 2021. An increase was observed in the provisions of aviation kerosene (143,1%) and of marine gasoil (20,4%), as well as in the sales of kerosene (175,6%), light fuel oil (28,2%) and heating gasoil (22,0%). On the contrary, a decrease was recorded in the sales of asphalt (-49,8%), heavy fuel oil (-10,8%), road diesel (-10,4%) and motor gasoline (-5,9%). As far as the sales from filling stations are specifically concerned, these have registered a fall of 6,8% to 55.061 tonnes.

The total sales of petroleum products in June 2022 compared to May 2022 recorded a rise of 4,2%. Indicatively, the provisions of aviation kerosene rose by 13,8%, the sales of road diesel by 1,8% and those of motor gasoline by 1,6%. The total stocks of petroleum products at the end of June 2022 rose by 1,3% compared to the end of the previous month.

During the period January – June 2022, the total sales of petroleum products increased by 22,4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Scope and Coverage

The collection of data on Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is carried out on a monthly basis.

It concerns the sales of petroleum products from filling stations and the sales to government departments, to the British Bases and the United Nations, to ships and to other customers, as well as the stocks held at the end of each month. Only the petroleum companies are being covered. Additionally, the imports of petroleum products imported directly from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the manufacturing industry are also included.

Data collection

The collection of data is conducted by the Statistical Service on a monthly basis by electronically receiving a purpose-designed questionnaire from each of these companies.
