Petros Xenophontos was born on 25 February 1962 at Alona village, Lefkosia District. He graduated in 1979 from the Pancyprian Gymnasium of Lefkosia. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He was also awarded a postgraduate diploma title in Computing from the North London University, a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Cyprus.

He gained significant experience in team leadership in the direction of collaboration, innovation and empowerment of human resources, as well as in serving customers and the public in general.

He worked as a Mechanical Engineer at the construction company CYBARCO, while he was Aftersales Manager to automotive importers. He also worked as Professor of Informatics at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth and as Mechanical Engineer at the Sewerage Board of Nicosia.

He served as Senior Road Transport Officer at the Department of Road Transport of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, as well as Deputy Director and then Director of the Government Printing Office and Head of Government Purchasing and Supply Services of the Ministry of Finance.

He is married to Koula Ioannou Xenophontos and has two children, Stephania and Alexandros.
