Τhe Press and Information Office is organising a discussion entitled "Protecting journalists, protecting democracy", on Monday 3 April 2023, at 9:30 a.m., at the Press and Information Office’s Theophilos Georgiades Amphitheatre, as part of the "Journalists Matter" campaign.

Speakers will be Patrick Penninckx, Head of the Information Society Department of the Council of Europe, Matthew Caruana Galizia, journalist, Director of "The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation" and son of murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, and Herman Grech, Editor-in-chief of "Times of Malta" and Director of the play "They Blew Her Up".

The discussion will take place in English with simultaneous interpretation from/to Greek and will be moderated by Aliki Stylianou, Director of the Press and Information Office.

The “Journalists Matter” campaign is part of the Council of Europe's campaign for the protection and safety of journalists, which will run from 2023 to 2027.

The event is open to the public.
