Announcement of the Digital Security Authority regarding the 3+1 Cyber Security Working Group (CSWG) meeting

The Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Digital Security Authority (DSA) hosted the second round of meetings of the 3+1 Cyber Security Working Group (CSWG) that took place in Larnaka during 02-03 of May 2023. This meeting aimed to explore how our countries may promote cooperation to counter malicious cyber threats; secure maritime cyberspace and build resilience in the East Mediterranean region.

On the first day, the participants focused on sharing experiences, best practices, and designing exercises in the Maritime domain. Additionally, the results of a white paper “Regional Approach to Maritime Cybersecurity Governance and Risk Management: The Eastern Mediterranean as a Model” were presented and discussed.

On the second day, a Brainstorming Tabletop exercise took place, which gave the opportunity to the participants to exercise through a Maritime tabletop scenario on how States and appointed national authorities and entities can cooperate in order to manage a cross-border cyber incident.

Opening remarks by the Ambassador and Political Director of Multilateral Relations and Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Evangelos Savva, the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic in Cyprus, Mr Ioannis Papameletiou, the Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus, Mr Oren Anolik, the Deputy Commissioner of Communications, Mr Petros Galidis and Ms Justine Treadwell, Political – Economic Counselor, US Embassy.

Honorary guests attended the meeting from ENISA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Greece, Open University of Cyprus and Sandia National Laboratories, and Authorities from Greece and Israel participated in the meeting.
