1. Ozersay alleges that the Cyprus negotiations should not begin as long there is no “common vision”

Turkish Cypriot Kıbrıs (12.11.18) newspaper reports that Kudret Ozersay, self-styled foreign minister of the breakaway regime in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, has alleged that the statements made recently by President Anastasiades have shown that there was no common vision as regards the solution of the Cyprus problem. “While things are such, as long as there is no common vision which will show how the negotiations will be carried out, we should not enter into negotiations; this would be wrong”, he claimed in statements to illegal TAK news agency.

Ozersay alleged also that the lack of a common vision and the existence of two separate visions, which do not coincide and are distant from each other, is obvious.

He argued that the recent report of the UN on Cyprus notes that the two sides should clarify their common vision and that it does not provide for negotiations before this point is clarified. Ozersay claimed that the second basic point, which is underlined in this report, is that the sides should reach an agreement on how the negotiating process will be held, after the common vision is clarified.

Ozersay described as “dangerous” the effort in the direction of the commencement of direct negotiations while the lack of a necessary for the future of the island common vision and understanding is obvious. He reiterated the allegation that failure in the negotiations until today derives from the fact that the Greek Cypriots are not annoyed as much as the Turkish Cypriots from the existing status quo and do not want to see that what is called “partnership” passes through sharing the island’s administration and wealth.

“We should be careful in our steps while there is a Greek Cypriot political leadership which attempts to limit political equality and makes statements and proposals contrary to the understanding of sharing which constitutes the most indispensable condition of federal partnerships”, he alleged arguing that the sides understand differently the meaning of federation, political equality and rotating presidency.

2. Burcu on the opening of Deryneia and Apliki crossing points

According to illegal Bayrak television (12.11.18-http://www.brtk.net/?english_posts=baris-burcu-speaks-on-brt) the so-called presidential spokesman Baris Burcu in statements today on a program he attended via telephone on BRT regarding the opening of the Deryneia and Aplıki crossing points, alleged that Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci and the “presidency” had used all the means available to them for the opening of the two crossing points.

Recalling that three and a half years ago a political decision had been taken to open the crossing points, Burcu expressed the hope that the crossing points will benefit all.

“President Mustafa Akıncı himself and the entire presidency had used all means available in the past 3 and a half years for the opening of the crossing points and finally the day has come where it has opened”, said Burcu.

Noting that although three and a half years isn’t a short time, Burcu said that everyone needed to work in harmony in order for the crossing points to open, there were things that both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots needed to complete and also the UN.

“Some problems were experienced due to the former government”, said Burcu and added that the opening of these two particular crossing points was an unchangeable topic for the “president”.

Burcu thanked everyone who worked towards the opening of the crossing points and expressed the hope that a day will come that a solution will be found where crossing points.

3. Ozersay says the opening of the new crossing points is a positive development

Kudret Ozersay, self-styled deputy prime minister and foreign minister, posted today in his social media account that the opening of the crossing points in Deryneia and Apliki is a positive development, not only in terms of economic mobility but also for better recognition of each other and increased dialogue. He added that the fact that the two crossing points can be opened together is particularly pleasing for them.

In his post, Ozersay also claimed: “After our government came into power, we supported as we had promised the opening of the crossing points and to make the arrangements (like the infrastructure, security, personnel needs)”. He added that despite some delays as “elections bans” and “tender arrangements”, due to the presence of their will, they have achieved a positive result. He thanked all the civil society organizations and all those who contributed to this effort.

4. Left Movement: “Negotiations should resume on the basis of Guterres framework as soon as possible”

Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Duzen newspaper (12.11.18) reports that the Left Movement said that the Cyprus talks should resume on the basis of the Guterres framework as soon as possible.

In a written statement issued yesterday, Abdullah Korkmazhan, representative of the Left Movement, argued that the recent debates opened by the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades on the issues of “decentralized federation and the effective participation of the Turkish Cypriots in decision making with political equality” aim to intervene the resumption of the Cyprus talks and called on the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci not to give the wrong answer.

Korkmazhan further argued that Anastasiades is trying to get rid some of the demands in the Guterres Framework and in the UN Secretary-General’s report issued in September and in this effort, he has partners Ankara and the Turkish Cypriots who are “separatists and against the solution”.

5. “Foreign ministry” accused the UN Peace Forces of not treating the two sides in Cyprus equally and fairly

Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris Postasi newspaper (10.11.18) reports that the self-styled ministry of foreign affairs issued a “nota” protesting against a decision of the UN Peace Forces in Cyprus.

The “ministry” reacted against a decision taken by the Peace Forces to cancel a religious service in Deneia village, in the buffer zone, on the grounds that the timing for the service was not right.

The “ministry” claimed in its “nota” that this is another proof that the UN Peace Forces do not treat the two sides in Cyprus equally and fairly.

Under the above title, Turkish Cypriot Kıbrıs (12.11.18) newspaper reports that 261 workers employed without a “work permit” were found during inspections carried out in 1,070 workplaces by “inspectors” of the so-called ministry of labor from 1 January to 30 June 2018.

During the above-mentioned period, 1,703 employees were inspected. 1,338 of these employees come from Turkey and 365 from third countries. It was established that 15,32% of these workers were “illegally” employed. The percentage of the “illegal” workers during the controls held in the same period of 2017 was 11,3%.

8. “Salamina is falling apart”

Under the above title, Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (10.11.18) reported that due to the lack of interest and neglect show by the breakaway regime, the archeological area of Salamina is turning into wretches.

The paper notes that no maintenance has taken place since 1974 leading the stones, from which the remains in the area are built, to decay.  Many stones haωε plans growν on them and have never been cleaned therefore the remains of several buildings located in the area face the danger of collapsing. The mosaics in the area are in a very bad condition as well, the paper notes, adding that this situation is very embarrassing since thousands of tourists visit Salamina every year.

1.Erdogan discussed Khashoggi case with Trump and held several contacts with state leader in Paris

Turkish daily Hurriyet Daily News (12.11.18-http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/erdogan-trump-discuss-khashoggi-case-138767) reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed how to respond to the killing last month of Saudi dissident columnist Jamal Khashoggi, a White House official said on Nov. 11.

The conversation took place during a dinner on Nov. 10 with heads of states gathered in Paris to mark the World War One Armistice centenary.

(…)Erdogan revealed on November 10 that the recordings of the murder were shared with Saudi Arabia, the U.S., Germany, France and the U.K.

“We gave the tapes. We gave them to Saudi Arabia, to the United States, Germans, French and British, all of them. They have listened to all the conversations in them. They know,” Erdogan said.

Erdogan did not give details of the contents of the tapes on Saturday but two sources with knowledge of the issue have told Reuters that Turkey has several audio recordings.

They include the killing itself and conversations pre-dating the operation which Turkey subsequently uncovered, the sources said.

(…)On the same issue, Turkish daily Sabah (11.11.18-https://www.dailysabah.com/diplomacy/2018/11/10/erdogan-first-lady-talk-with-trump-discuss-khashoggi-response-at-dinner-in-paris) reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and first lady Emine Erdoğan engaged in a lengthy discussion with U.S. President Donald Trump during a dinner Saturday evening hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, where world leaders had gathered for Armistice Day, marking the 100th anniversary of the cease-fire that ended World War I.

Macron's dinner was attended by heads of states, governments and international institutions and their spouses who came to the French capital to join in events marking the centenary of the end of World War I.

Erdoğan and Trump were seated next to each other at the dinner which was followed by an exhibition at the Musee d'Orsay.

Erdogan and the first lady also chatted with Moldovan President Igor Dodon and his wife Galina Dodon.

During the dinner, Erdogan met Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Erdogan talked with Macron and his wife Brigitte as well as Merkel.

He also talked with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Bosniak member of the tripartite Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izzetbegovic, Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

Earlier in the day, Erdogan met with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the Peninsula Hotel. The private conversation lasted about 45 minutes.

Erdogan received a warm welcome on Saturday upon arriving in Paris. Turkish nationals holding signs honoring the president greeted him and the first lady as they arrived at the Peninsula Hotel in the French capital. Then Erdogan stopped to take pictures and talk with those who had awaited their arrival.

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoğlu and Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalın accompanied the President.

Erdogan further held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

2. Erdogan’ stresses the importance of global peace in an article in Le Figaro newspaper

Ankara Anatolia news agency (11.11.18-https://www.aa.com.tr/en/politics/armistice-centenary-erdogan-stresses-on-global-peace/1308456) reported that Turkey’s fight against terrorist organizations represents a prerequisite for the security of the European nations, Turkish President Erdogan has said.

Erdogan penned an article for Le Figaro, French daily, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary since the end of World War I.

"The objection we raise against new efforts akin to the Sykes-Picot agreement in our region and our efforts to fight against terrorist organizations such as Daesh, PKK and FETO, reflect our respect for our neighbors and represent a prerequisite for the security of the European nations – of which Turkey is part," Erdogan wrote.

The 1916 Sykes-Picot agreement laid the ground for the borders of the new Middle East following the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

On the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Erdogan said that "it is not possible to claim that the conflict is over."

"The domestic tensions, growing terror threat and deepening instability seen in Turkey's southern neighbors, Iraq and Syria, in recent years, along with the systematic dispossession and displacement that we have been witnessing in Palestine for decades, are among the clear indicators of that situation," he said.

Erdogan said also that some "problematic political entities" emerged after the borders were drawn on table by the great world powers, following World War I.

"The failure of those problematic political entities to build strong bonds with the societies, over which they ruled, led the Middle East and the North Africa regions to be remembered with authoritarian regimes, military coups and minority rule throughout the twentieth century," Erdogan added.

Erdogan said that that the most important lesson that must be learned from World War I is how difficult it is to establish lasting peace.

He said that Turkey would continue to work towards its goal of becoming a full member of the EU, which he called "the most important peace project" in the continent's history.

Turkey at the same time will contribute to peace and stability "by supporting representative, democratic and liberal governments in the Middle East," he added.

3. Putin to attend Turk Stream completion ceremony
