The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the new monthly electronic publication “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for August 2019.

The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade were:

(a) Total imports (covering total imports from third countries and from EU Member States) in January – August 2019 amounted to €5.454,5 mn as compared to €5.917,1 mn in January – August 2018. Total exports (covering total exports to third countries and to EU Member States) in January – August 2019 were €2.181,5 mn compared to €3.325,8 mn in January – August 2018. The trade deficit was €3.273,0 mn in January – August 2019 compared to €2.591,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2018.

Total imports in January – August 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €784,8 mn as compared to €994,2 mn in January – August 2018. Total exports in January – August 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €743,5 mn as compared to €1.337,8 mn in January – August 2018.

(b) During August 2019 total imports (covering total imports from third countries and from EU Member States) valued at €621,5 mn as compared to €648,6 mn in August 2018.

(c) Total exports (covering total exports to third countries and to EU Member States), including stores and provisions, in August 2019 amounted to €231,0 mn as compared to €268,1 mn in August 2018. Exports of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions in August 2019 were €86,7 mn as compared to €173,8 mn in August 2018 whilst exports of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, in August 2019 were €144,3 mn as compared to €94,3 mn in August 2018. Total domestic exports of industrial products in August 2019 were €79,9 mn compared to €167,0 mn in August 2018. Total domestic exports of agricultural products in August 2019 were €4,7 mn compared to €4,7 mn in August 2018.
