The use of the online pages and services of www.pio.gov.cy by the visitor/user requires the unreserved agreement with the following terms of use that apply to the sum of the content included on the website. Consequently, the visitor/user has to read these terms carefully before using the services of the website and if he/she is not in agreement, should not use the services and their content. The user/visitor is requested to check the terms of use content for possible changes. The continuing use of www.pio.gov.cy even after changes are applied, is signifying the unreserved acceptance of these terms on behalf of the visitor/user.

The Press and Information Office maintains the website www.pio.gov.cy in order to facilitate the public’s access to information produced by stakeholders of the public sector during the carrying out of their mission. At the same time, it must be noted that this information is not intended to act in lieu of legal documents and it does not constitute a legal interpretation.

These public stakeholders are making every effort to ensure that the information posted on the website is both accurate and infallible. Nonetheless, it cannot be guaranteed that every piece of information posted is accurate. When errors are identified, efforts are being made for them to be corrected.

In case of inconsistencies between a document posted on the website and a specified official document, the official document will be considered as valid in terms of its content.

The inclusion of links to external websites is done exclusively for the facilitation of visitors. This should not be perceived in any way as adherence to, recommendation or approval of their content.

3. PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION POLICY

The Press and Information Office (PIO) understands the importance of protecting Personal Data (PD) and as the "Data Controller" for the personal data it maintains, is committed to processing them in a fair and transparent manner, in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union (GDPR - Regulation 2016/679) and the applicable relevant legislation in Cyprus.

Amendments and Changes to the PD Protection Policy

PIO reserves the right to review the Personal Data Protection Policy when deemed necessary. Therefore, you are encouraged to consult it regularly.

Additionally, there is the PIO Publication Plan - Law on the Right of Access to Public Sector Information, outlining the categories of information published by the Press and Information Office.

4. SECURITY

The SSL (SecureSocketsLayer) protocol is currently the worldwide web standard for website certification among internet users and also for element encoding among users and web servers. An encrypted SSL communication requires all information sent between the client and the server to be encrypted from the sending software and decrypted from the receiving software, protecting this way personal information during the transfer. Also, all information sent with the SSL protocol is protected by a mechanism that automatically verifies if the data has been changed during the transfer.

Social Media Terms of Service (TOS)

The aim of these TOS is to create a positive environment on all social media channels run by the Press and Information Office (Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram etc.).

The PIO abides by the TOS of all social media platforms it uses.

By engaging with our social media platforms you agree with the following terms.

Users are personally liable for content they post online. We therefore ask that anyone engaging with our social media channels shows respect towards all other users, protects their personal information and abides by the Terms of Service associated with each social media platform.

Comments must not:

• Contain personal data of the user or others.

• Be defamatory of any person, deceive others, be obscene, offensive, threatening, hateful or promote sexually explicit material or violence.
• Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
• Breach any of the TOS of the social media platforms themselves.
• Contain spam or advertising.

Breach of Terms

Any information posted on our social media channels is considered public information and may be subject to monitoring, archiving, moderation or disclosure to third parties. The page administrators therefore reserve the right to forward any comments to responsible authorities for investigation as we deem appropriate.

The page administrators reserve the right to delete or mark as spam any and all comments. They also have the right to block access to anyone from posting to our pages.
