State Scholarship Foundation of Cyprus announces scholarship programs of the Japanese Government

The  State Scholarship Foundation of Cyprus announces that the Japanese Government, through the Embassy of Japan in Cyprus, will provide scholarships for 2021 to Cypriot nationals who wish to continue their studies in the Japanese universities as research students for a master or PhD degree, born on or after April 2, 1986.

Duration of scholarships and coverage:
The duration of study for research students is two years or one and a half year (including six months of Japanese language training) and it will start in September or October 2021 following to your university’s direction.
The scholarship includes the travel to/from Japan, the tuition, the student visa and a monthly stipend which also covers accommodation. This amount is set at 143.000 YEN (approximately 1.214 EURO as of 26/05/2020) for research students.

Selection criteria:
The selection of candidates will take place in early October 2020, initially based on the evaluation of the submitted application documents and afterwards based on the candidate’s performance in the written examinations of English and Japanese language, as well as the personal interview.
*In case of rejection of the application, the Embassy of Japan is not obliged to justify its decision. After the publication of the results, there is no procedure of re-examination and objections are not accepted.

Deadline is 18th of September 2020.
*No application will be accepted after the deadline.
