The Office of the Commissioner for Volunteerism and Non-Governmental Organizations announces that after informing the European Commission about the actions it had taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, by activating the Emergency Volunteer Management Protocol and the actions it had implemented , has received a joint written response from the Vice President of the European Commission Mr. Margaritis Schoinas and the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mrs. Mariya Gabriel, as well as from the Commissioner for Health of the European Commission Mrs. Stella Kyriakidou. Everyone congratulates the Office on the use of volunteerism during the pandemic, but also on the actions taken, which are estimated at over 8,000.

The activation of the Volunteer Management Protocol in Emergency Situations, the Protocols that were created for the operation of volunteering during the pandemic, the online training, but also the coordination, brought about the impressive result of thousands of voluntary actions in Cyprus.

The main policy of the Office is to create a favorable and safe environment, which will further develop the field of volunteerism. With modern policies, which are identical with the European ones, as mentioned in the letter from the Vice President of the European Commission Mr. Margaritis Schoinas and the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mrs. Mariya Gabriel, Government Organizations and Civil Society, the Republic of Cyprus, through the Office of the Commissioner for Volunteerism and NGOs, emerges as a modern country for the sector, having created a comprehensive policy framework for volunteerism, NGOs and Civil Society.

The success is also due to our volunteers, who were activated through the Office of the Commissioner for Volunteerism and NGOs, followed strictly the instructions of The Office and implemented with discipline the Protocols that had been created.
