Answers to frequent questions concerning the emergency measures for passengers from the United Kingdom

1.    Who will be transferred to hotels in the Republic for a 7-day quarantine?

All passengers arriving at Larnaka and Pafos Airports will be transferred to hotels with which the state has concluded an agreement for a 7-day quarantine.

2.    What applies for people under the age of 18?

Persons under the age of 18 can either self-isolate at home, or stay in isolation in hotels if they are traveling with their parents/guardians or if the conditions at home do not allow them to be isolated there (e.g. living with vulnerable groups, if there is no adult to take care of them, etc.).

3.    Can a person, who has his/her the space and can isolate from the rest of his family, be confined to his home?

No. All persons, except those under the age of 18, must remain in quarantine in hotels in the Republic. There is no exception other than persons under the age of 18.

4.    Who covers the cost of the laboratory test on arrival and on the7th day, as well as the cost of transfer from Larnaka or Pafos Airports to the hotel and the cost of accommodation?

The cost of the laboratory test on arrival is covered by the passenger himself/herself. It is noted that all persons over 12 years of age will undergo a laboratory test. The cost of the repeat laboratory test on the 7th day is undertaken by the State. Also, the cost of transfer from Larnaka or Pafos Airports to the hotel, as well as the cost of the 7-day stay, are undertaken by the State.

5.    After the 7th day of quarantine at the hotel and provided that the result of the laboratory test is negative, is the restriction terminated?

No, it is not. After the seven-day isolation at the hotel and assuming that the result of the laboratory test is negative, people will go to their homes, where they are obliged to remain in self-isolation for another three days, i.e. the completion of 10 days from arrival.

6.    Are passengers travelling to Cyprus from another country, via the United Kingdom obliged to quarantine in a hotel in the Republic?

No. Passengers arriving in Cyprus from another country via the United Kingdom are not required to quarantine in a hotel in the Republic. They must, however, remain in self-isolation for a period of 14 days, if they are traveling from Category C countries.

7.    If the result of the laboratory test onday 7 is positive, what procedure will be followed?

If the outcome of the laboratory test that is carried out on the 7th day is positive, then the case management protocol is activated, the Epidemiological Monitoring Unit and the individual’s GP are informed and the procedure applied for all positive cases is followed.
