Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country), January – March 2021

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January - March 2021. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the 6 digits commodity code level and by partner country.

The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:

(a)   Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January - March 2021 amounted to €1.916,1 mn as compared to €2.074,9 mn in January - March 2020, recording a decrease of 7,7%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January - March 2021 were €555,3 mn compared to €734,6 mn in the same period of 2020, registering a decrease of 24,4%. The trade deficit was €1.360,8 mn in January - March 2021 compared to €1.340,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2020.

(b)   The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €1.145,9 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €137,8 mn in January - March 2021. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €632,4 mn.

(c)   Exports to the European Union accounted for €189,5 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €84,9 mn in January - March 2021. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €280,9 mn.
