The CovScan Cyprus application at the service of citizens and businesses

In the framework of the effort to optimally manage the pandemic, the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy provides citizens and businesses the “CovScan Cyprus” application, which allows the easy, quick and safe validity check of the EU Digital COVID Certificates.

The “CovScan Cyprus” application can be installed on any Android device (for versions newer than Android 8.1), and iis available on Google Play free of charge.

By scanning the QR code on the certificate, in printed or electronic form, the application presents the result of the validity check. There are three checking levels:

  • Green:the certificate is “Valid’ and this means that the holder of the certificate has been vaccinated or has contracted the Covid-19 virus.
  • Yellow:the certificate is “Valid” and this means that the holder of the certificate has undergone a laboratory test (RT-PCR or antigen rapid test) with a negative result.
  • Red:The certificate is “Not valid”.

It is reminded that regarding the EU Digital COVID Certificates, the following apply in Cyprus:

  • The vaccination certificate is valid for one year from the date of the first dose.
  • The recovery certificate is valid for six months from the testing date of the first positive result.
  • The COVID-19 laboratory test certificate with the molecular method (RT-PCR) and the COVID-19 laboratory test with the rapid antigen test method are valid for 72 hours from the time of testing.

It is noted that the application only shows the name and birth date of the certificate holder, while it does not temporarily or permanently store personal data or the checking history.

The utilization of this valuable tool is expected to contribute to the protection of public health, and at the same time, to the smooth, and above all, safe return to normality.
