Job Vacancies: 2nd quarter 2021

The number of job vacancies in the 2nd quarter of 2021 reached 7.397. The number of job vacancies increased by 3.225 (77,3%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year where the number was 4.172. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2021 the number of job vacancies increased by 636 (9,4%). (Table 1)

The job vacancy rate in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was 2,6%, while the job vacancy rate in the previous quarter and the 2nd quarter of 2020 was 2,0% and 1,2% respectively. The largest job vacancy rates in the 2nd quarter of 2021 were observed in the Sectors of Accommodation and Food Service Activities (7,1%), Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply (5,5%), Human Health and Social Work Activities (4,9%) and Manufacturing (3,5%). (Table 2)

Methodological information

Definitions

A job vacancy has to be announced as vacant outside the enterprise concerned, has to be filled in the near future and the employer must have taken active steps to find a suitable candidate.

The job vacancy rate is the number of job vacancies expressed as a percentage of the total number of occupied posts and job vacancies.

Coverage

The survey covers enterprises with 1 or more employees classified in all Sectors of Economic Activities under the NACE Rev.2 classification system except A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use) and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies).

Collection of data

The data collection is carried out by telephone interviews every quarter.
