The Council of Ministers approved at today’s meeting the proposal of the Minister for Health, Mr Michalis Hadjipantela, concerning the administration of a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to people aged 18 years and over, provided that six months have elapsed since the completion of their vaccination scheme (namely the administration of the 2nd dose of Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines or the administration of the single dose of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine).

The decision of the Council of Ministers was based on a recommendation to the Minister for Health by the National Vaccination Advisory Committee, which at a recent meeting recommended, by majority, the initiation of the vaccination process with a booster dose of the vaccine for the entire adult population.

More details on the exact starting date and the procedure to be followed for the booster dose vaccination will be announced in the coming days.
