Curriculum vitae of the new Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr Michalis Hadjiyiannis

Michalis Hadjiyiannis was born in Lefkosia on 5 November 1978, to parents originating from Keryneia. He has studied Music at the Cyprus National Conservatory, and holds a classical guitar and piano diploma. He has also studied Music Theory at the Royal Academy of Music, London. For the last 25 years, he has been actively involved in Greek and foreign discography, writing music, lyrics and singing songs, which have been loved by the general public, ranking him amongst the most popular Greek artists and songwriters.

Michalis Hadjiyiannis received the “Best Selling Artist of the Decade” award in late 2000, as sales of his albums have reached 3.500.000 copies. During the same period, the cd single “Everyone dance” is released in Germany and the album “Michalis” with English lyrics in six European countries. He sings at well-known venues together with artists  such as Dimitra Galani, Haris Alexiou, Giorgos Dalaras, Alkistis Protopsalti, Paschalis Terzis and many others. According to the ΙFPI’s official data, he has been the most popular songwriter in Greece and Cyprus for 30 years.

He is a member of the “ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with cancer”, and has been proclaimed “Artist of Hope for 2019-2021”.
