Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products: September2021
Annual change in sales +14,8%
In September 2021, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 127.246 tonnes, recording a rise of 14,8% compared to September 2020. An increase was observed in the provisions of aviation kerosene (140,4%) and marine gasoil (48,3%), as well as in the sales of liquefied petroleum gases (55,9%), kerosene (30,0%) and heating gasoil (20,6%). The sales of motor gasoline and road diesel recorded a marginal increase (0,1%) while a decrease was recorded in the sales of light fuel oil (-29,9%) and asphalt (-23,8%). As far as the sales from filling stations are specifically concerned, these have registered an increase of 0,2% to 60.840 tonnes.
The total sales of petroleum products in September 2021 compared to August 2021 recorded a rise of 15,7%. Indicatively, the provisions of aviation kerosene rose by 8,2%, the sales of motor gasoline by 6,9% and those of road diesel by 16,4%.
The total stocks of petroleum products at the end of September 2021 recorded a fall of 10,5% compared to the end of the previous month.
During the period January – September 2021, the total sales of petroleum products increased by 0,9% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Scope and Coverage
The collection of data on Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is carried out on a monthly basis.
It concerns the sales of petroleum products from filling stations and the sales to government departments, to the British Bases and the United Nations, to ships and to other customers, as well as the stocks held at the end of each month. Only the petroleum companies are being covered. Additionally, the imports of petroleum products imported directly from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the manufacturing industry are also included.
Data collection
The collection of data is conducted by the Statistical Service on a monthly basis by electronically receiving a purpose-designed questionnaire from each of these companies.
