Dear Rector of the American University of Cyprus,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Distinguished guests,

It is a great honor and pleasure that I welcome you at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the American University of Cyprus. This event indicates a significant step towards achieving the Ministry of Defence's goal of collaborating with the Academic Community. Through this memorandum, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the American University of Cyprus are paving the way for cooperation in areas of common interest, aimed at promoting joint educational and other programmes to address various issues.

The collaboration includes joint participation in research programmes, exchange of information and data, cooperation in education and training matters, joint participation in technocratic level committees, and the development of technological applications of common interest. Additionally, the transfer of knowledge and utilisation of expertise from both parties, will be pursued for mutual benefit along with the promotion of actions on matters of common interest.

Furthermore, our efforts are focused on establishing a network of educational institutions and bodies specialising in areas of common interest through the Ministry's Security and Defence Academy. We aim to effectively communicate our country's defence and foreign policy to the academic community through national and international educational activities.

The Memorandum of Cooperation being signed today will facilitate the strengthening of relations between the Ministry of Defence and the American University of Cyprus. Through direct synergy, we will work towards developing new educational programmes and fostering a more productive and in-depth cooperation. I would like to express my gratitude for your presence here today and your willingness to cooperate further. I am confident that this event marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership.
