The Department of Antiquities, Deputy Ministry of Culture, announces that on Saturday 18^th May 2024 at 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00 hours, the walking performance ‘[In]Credible Histöries’: Devised Theatre on the Swedish Cyprus Expedition (1927-1931)' will take place in the framework of the celebrations for the International Museum Day 2024.

Why did four Swedish archaeologists arrive in Cyprus at the beginning of the 20th century and stayed on the island for almost four years? What were the invisible voices and presences around the Swedish Archaeological Mission in Cyprus? What stories related to the Expedition have been lost or forgotten?

The performance is a promenade outside and inside the Cyprus Museum in 4 scenes, composing the story as envisioned by the creative team of the project. The team consists of researchers from the humanities (Theatre-Dramaturgy and Photography-Museology), performing artists (actors, directors and performers) and Archaeological Officers of the Department of Antiquities. Through joint workshops and applying interdisciplinary and artistic practices, material from the Swedish Cyprus Expedition (1927-1931) consisting of photographs, archaeological finds, literary/journalistic texts and letters of the Swedish archaeologists was studied.

The staged reading of the performance was presented on 20 April 2024 in the garden of the Cyprus Museum.
